It has recently come to my attention that there is a deal in the works between Sunrise and 20th Century Fox to make a live-action movie based on Cowboy Bebop, one of the best classic Anime series ever. Apparently, this deal was finalized and triggered due to the involvement of Keanu Reeves, who apparently traveled to Japan multiple times in order to seal the deal, and in return Reeves has been cast as Spike Spiegel, the main character of the series. Sunrise has claimed that they will be in charge of quality control for the project, and that they will have the final word on the script, such that if the script is bad, the movie will not be produced.

Information regarding the live-action Cowboy Bebop movie.

I’m pretty skeptical about this prospect… I’m not thrilled about the idea of adapting Anime to live-action film, but the Transformers movies have shown that an animation to live action transition is not only doable but solid, so there may yet be hope. I have to say that Keanu Reeves as Spike Spiegel has me a bit worried, as Reeves is known for being a less than emotional actor. The rest of the cast hasn’t been decided on yet, so I’ve got my fingers crossed that it turns out alright, but really I’m not sure I’ve got much hope for it.

Here’s hoping that something of value can come out of this. Until Next Time…

Friday was my birthday, so I’ve been spending the last 3 days generally hanging out and doing as little as possible. The last couple days have mainly consisted of interesting dinners and a couple fun things done. On Thursday, I went to lunch with my friend Joyce, where she gave me this awesome mousepad. Scarlet [...]

Apparently I missed this, but the fansub of Kara no Kyoukai 6 came out on the 31st of July. Ever since I caught the premiere of Kara no Kyoukai 5 at Fanime, I’ve been excited about the series, so it’s cool to have access to the fansubs. That said, I watched it yesterday, and it [...]

One of the most common ways that I get pointed at Anime to watch is that my friend Joyce refers me to it. Of course, I’m usually a little dubious (and lazy), but I usually end up watching it anyway, and I’m usually not disappointed. The latest offering is Lucky Star, a high-school girl slice-of-life [...]

Every year, I panic as it gets down to the wire, and I still don’t have a costume or anything for Fanime. However, this time, I figured I’d change it up from my standard costumes, awesome though they may be, and put together a nice, full costume well in advance of crunch time. Last time, [...]

I’m a huge Touhou fan, and especially the Fighting games of the series. That’s why I’m so excited about the announcement of Touhou Hisoutensoka, the recently announced expansion to Touhou Hisouten, game 10.5 in the series, named Scarlet Weather Rhapsody. Scarlet Weather Rhapsody is one of the two fighting games created by Tasogare Frontier, and [...]

Lemme just get this out of the way. Before reading the rest of this post, make note of the following disclaimer: IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED KARA NO KYOUKAI CHAPTER 5, DO NOT READ THIS POST. GO AND WATCH IT FIRST. (Seriously, go watch it. Kara no Kyoukai is great.) That said, if you have [...]

I know I’m a little late to the bandwagon, but I don’t care, because TF2 is just that good. I’ve been a fan of Team Fortress ever since the original one was produced as a multiplayer addon to Quake, and later as Team Fortress Classic to Half-Life. However, Team Fortress 2 seemed like that thing [...]

Let’s face it. At the heart of things, everything has been done before. Everything boils down to some permutation of a theme. Everything conforms to a stereotype in some way, no matter what. And when it comes to overdone stereotypes, there’s one site that’s on top of documenting these themes: TVTropes.org. A Trope is defined [...]

I first became aware of this Anime after futzing around on Hulu for a while, and realizing that they had this among their shows available. Basically, if you know what Full Metal Alchemist is, you already know the plot of Brotherhood. FMA: Brotherhood is basically a standard “Full Series Reset” of the original Full Metal [...]
